Using glycerine in soaps, makes moisturizing the skin a natural. You are assured of a soft, silky feel .Unfortunately many commercial soap manufacturers today, remove this essential by product, for use in other more expensive products such as creams and lotions.
Glycerin is an ideal ingredient to soap making because of its sweet smelling and moisture attracting properties. It is also a good solvent- it can be dissolved in water or alcohol, and many things can also be dissolved in it. When proportionately mixed with water, glycerin will hydrate and thus, soften the skin. Glycerin also has some other properties that prove to be beneficial to the skin, as well.
In the late 1890’s, it was said that soap manufacturers made a lot of profit. Removing glycerin from the soap was resorted to. Whatever was extracted went to the making of nitroglycerine- an ingredient needed in the manufacture of dynamites. When fats and lye are mixed together, soap is formed. Glycerine is found in fats.
There are also specialty soaps out in the market today, such as clear glycerine soaps. They contain a high amounts of glycerin in them and is therefore highly, moisturizing. Soaps high in glycerin, when exposed to air, will” bead “or “perspire”.
Glycerin soaps that are available today are cold processed (meaning, that when the fats and lye are mixed, they are immediately poured on molds) and contain glycerin extracted
from vegetable products. This would then be very ideal for dry or sensitive skin.
So, if you really want to get soft and silky smooth skin- use glycerine soaps. You deserve nothing but the best especially when it comes to pampering your skin.
